The way I understand my work is, we are there to help the team reduce the time from please to thank you (as described by Dan North).

We do that by decrease the feedback cycle, the time between a defect being introduced and it being fixed. That's part of the framing to go from rising bug reports which get triaged, to setting up framework and automated pipeline which developers use directly.

I see myself as a force multiplier, an enabler, so yes the developers are (one of) my customers.
